Oregon InC is a cross-sector leadership team, created during the 2005 Legislative Session, who's mission is to identify Oregon's top innovation-driven growth opportunities, maximize the state's competitive advantages and establish Oregon's niche in the global economy.

What will Oregon InC do for the state?
Oregon's economy is at a crossroads. Our most significant competition no longer comes from neighboring states; instead, it comes from nations on the other side of the globe. Oregon's ability to compete with countries like China and India—which offer both a highly educated workforce and dramatically lower labor and infrastructure costs—depends on our ability to identify and catalyze the strengths that have the potential to set us apart. Oregon InC was founded to meet this challenge.

Oregon InC's first charge is to develop and track the state's Innovation Plan. Drawing on best practices from around the country and input from state, national and international experts on innovation, Oregon InC will identify a targeted list of key "next steps" for Oregon's public and private sectors to:
  • Accellerate the transfer of research and technology into high-value products and growth companies.
  • Develop the entrepreneurial and workforce talent required for companies competing in highly innovative and global markets.
  • Facilitate collaboration across sectors to leverage existing private and public resources and build on growth opportunities.
  • Strategically position Oregon in the global arena based on our core strengths and unique regional identity.
  • Increase exports and bring new investment, companies and high-paying jobs to our state.
